What’s your story?
Difficult question. Because I don’t really like to talk about myself. My name is Arnaud. I am French with asian descent. When people asked me what are my origins, I used to simply answer Chinese descent. But it’s not that simple. If I feel that the person who asks me that question really wants to know me, I tell that I am from chinese descent from Cambodia and Vietnam. Because I feel lucky that my parents escaped the atrocity of wars and conflict in their born-country and that France welcomed them and their whole family. So I think I am kind of a mix of many countries, culture and education. And you know the cliché about asian people who are excellent at maths and computer. And guess what ? I work as an I.T engineer and I code. I love my job, because I know that code can make a difference and change the world. But I am not only that. I also love art, in its whole form. Because I think it’s the best way to express what you really are, and the most profound way to touch people’s heart. And apart of my regular work, I try to write. I am writing something. I don’t know if it’s good or not, if it can or will be published one day or not, but I enjoy it. I don’t know where it will bring me but I am excited about the journey.
Since I was a kid, teachers and other people always wanted me to come out of my shell, because I am not a very talkative person, and this attitude tends me to stay silent. I understand that we are living (at least in western France) in a society that values extraversion. And I am not that kind of person. Sometimes, I feel like I don’t belong in this world, because everything seems rowdy and noisy. And since I found out the psychology of introversion, and I am a very very introverted person, I fully embrace my inner self and I try to make my own way according to my values. I want to build my path in this life by being myself, and try not to betray what I am, in my deepest soul.
What’s your purpose?
A lot of people say that you have to succeed in life. I just want to be happy. And I don’t think that happiness is a goal to achieve, but it is an everyday struggle. The journey is more important than the destination. Now, as an IT Engineer, I want to put my skills and my experience for a right cause, because what you do every day has a meaning. And most of all, my purpose is to do the right thing. For my family, for my friends, for me. Big things or small things, I try to do the right thing. Because I believe that little steps by little steps, little bricks by little bricks, it will help you to build the right big picture.
In your opinion, what would make the world a better place?
People should care of what is around them. Pay attention, and care about the people, the environment, the nature. We are all living on the same planet. Helping and taking care of each other is the best way in my opinion to make a better world.
